On 2 December 2025, Alexey Yadykin, Partner and Head of the Dispute Resolution Practice at Stonebridge Legal, spoke at the plenary session of a premier legal event dedicated to international arbitration — the XVII ICC Russia Arbitration Conference. In his address, Alexey presented attendees with a comprehensive analysis of the impact of sanctions on the resolution of disputes involving Russian parties abroad.
Alexey’s report focused on the challenges faced by Russian companies in disputes with foreign counterparties under the current geopolitical circumstances: from typical cases of contract suspension and termination to the range of strategies available to the Russian side, including initiating international arbitration, applying to Russian courts, and adopting a wait-and-see approach.
Particular attention was paid to the risks of annulment in the EU of arbitral awards rendered in favour of Russian parties. Alexey emphasised that, in an environment of significant legal uncertainty, each situation requires in-depth analysis to develop an optimal strategy for protecting a client’s interests.
The ICC Russia conference traditionally brings together leading arbitration experts, representatives of major businesses, and state authorities. The participation of a Stonebridge Legal representative as a plenary session speaker confirms recognition of the firm’s expertise in complex cross-border disputes and international arbitration.
