On 15 May 2026, Corporate Practice Partner Dmitry Pozin Stonebridge Legal, moderated the Key Legal Issues for Marketplaces and Digital Platforms panel discussion at the XIII Moscow Innovative Legal Forum.
The discussion brought together representatives of regulators, industry associations and major market players, including the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Association of Digital Platforms, the Internet Trade Union, as well as experts from OZON, RWB, Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL), Renaissance Insurance Group and Yandex Market.
Key topics of the session:
- the role of marketplaces in economic development;
- striking a balance in the further regulation of marketplaces;
- adapting competition (antitrust) legislation;
- personal data protection on digital platforms;
- regulation of platform employment.
Participants discussed the key interests of the state, platforms, sellers and consumers in the context of marketplace interaction. Speakers also addressed pricing issues, the integration of insurance products into marketplace ecosystems, and certain adverse practices that require correction. The experts agreed that the platform economy requires a distinct legal approach, and that the regulator’s key task is to strike a balance between transparency and the innovative potential of digital platforms.
