On 11 November 2025, Stonebridge Legal and the GR-firm Kesarev held a seminar dedicated to the new challenges businesses face in cross-border transactions. The event brought together representatives of Russian and international business for a dialogue with leading experts amidst rapidly changing regulations.
The discussion focused on the tightening of restrictions and the stricter approaches of regulators. Experts highlighted particular scrutiny of "Type C" accounts, and also drew attention to complexities in obtaining approval for major operations. Success now largely depends on the detailed justification of a transaction and the preparation of high-quality documentation.
Special attention was paid to growing risks in the area of foreign investment control. Law No. 57-FZ is being applied more actively in practice, as evidenced by a number of high-profile court cases. Experts agreed that companies require regular audits of their structure and activities for compliance with this law to protect ownership rights.
The seminar concluded with a traditional Q&A session and informal networking during an evening cocktail reception.
