Labour disputes: from analysis of 2025 court rulings to a future-ready strategy

On 12 February 2026, a seminar entitled Labour Disputes: From Analysis of 2025 Court Rulings to a Future-Ready Strategy was held at the Stonebridge Legal office. Experts discussed the latest court practice, emerging risks for businesses, and effective defence strategies in labour disputes.

Denis Bushnev, Counsel and Head of the Labour Law & Data Protection Practice at Stonebridge Legal, presented an analysis of rulings by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation for the first half of 2025. Denis highlighted a concerning trend: the proportion of cases won by businesses in dismissals initiated by the employer has dropped to a new low of 39%. In his presentation, Denis reviewed high-profile cases, including challenges to termination by mutual agreement, recognition of employment relationships under civil contracts, risks associated with refusal to hire, and criminal liability for delayed payments. Denis also provided practical recommendations for the systematic and safe structuring of HR operations to meet strategic business objectives.

Evgeniya Khorova, Legal Partner at Avito Rabota, focused her presentation on the impact of the new law on the platform economy on the temporary employment market. She discussed new requirements for platform operators and contractors, restrictions on working with a single client, and the tightening of risk indicators triggering unscheduled inspections by the State Labour Inspectorate in 2026. Special attention was given to platforms’ obligations regarding workload monitoring and contractor safety.

The event was held as a lively dialogue: participants asked questions, shared their own cases, and received personalised advice from the speakers.

Stonebridge Legal extends its gratitude to all participants for their engagement and open dialogue, and looks forward to continued collaboration.

This event marked the second event of a planned series addressing current issues in employment law, personnel management and data protection. For further information and to get in touch to participate in future events, please contact: events@stonebridgelegal.ru
